Was just looking at some online news... and came across this article on your company Nike.

I remember reading a story about you in Fast Company and about how you supported the Live Strong Foundation.

I know you're a cool guy.... You seem like you genuinely care about your employees. I know that you are running a publicly traded company and are under extreme pressure to continue to grow at an unreasonable rate.

However, I would urge you to adhere to your own moto "Just Do it" and do the right thing. Either by ensuring that the Indonesians in this video have a decent working environment or... bringing more jobs back to the U.S.

My son and I just watched this video, and his comment was "How could anyone work in a factory like that?"

Between Chrome crashing every 3 seconds, Time Warner Connectivity issues and my latest experience with LastFM I'm about to explode.....

No...... not really. Outside of Time Warner, the payment for services like Chrome and LastFM is neglible. But they've come under the gun just like the paid services b/c of their reliability.

It is frustrating when free services crash, or don't operate the way they should..... what a g'dman nightmare!!

Startups Get Branding Advice, Connection to Clients; Ad Shops Get Insight Into What's Next

What's the latest offering from several of Madison Avenue's agencies? Venture capital.

In just the past two weeks, two more agencies hung VC shingles on their doors. Bartle Bogle Hegarty announced it will partner with a venture-capital firm to launch a $16 million fund, while design firm Redscout took the wraps off its ventures practice, which advises entrepreneurs and private-equity firms.

Those moves follow earlier ones by Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal & Partners and Rockfish to create venture-investment arms, as well as by Consigliere, a marketing consultancy cum investment fund.

While each agency is positioning the mission of its venture arm a bit differently, in general these new entities are designed to invest in early-stage startups and provide them guidance. MDC Partners-owned Redscout's first two projects are Hapify, an app for "happiness" management, and an established designer's new luxury brand. Publicis Group-backed BBH, through its unit Zag, is launching its fund with established VC firm Spark, whose prior investments include travel site lastminute.com. Called the Black Sheep Fund, BBH and Spark will each provide 5% of the $16 million target.

Agencies say their advantage is they not only have the dollars, they also have the creative capital that can't be found elsewhere.

"Venture capital is just venture capital," said Roo Rogers, president, Redscout Ventures. "What's different is that we're investing in talent and relationships. ... Most early startups can't afford to go to agencies, they're too expensive. And many startups don't have leadership with business acumen that agency execs do."

Still, it's hardly the first time agencies have invested in startups. Last week, at Interpublic Group of Cos.' investor day, CEO Michael Roth reminded the audience of his company's early stake "in a little company called Facebook." Five years ago, Interpublic invested in the then-Foursquare-size social network. When Facebook goes public in the next few years, Interpublic could bring in more than $100 million. Through Mediabrands Labs, Mr. Roth said the holding company will continue to bring startups in to learn about the ad business and to bring clients new opportunities.

For all of the agencies' enthusiasm about the space, at least for now the jury's still out on whether startups are interested in agencies as investors.

"There's certainly a lot of value in working with agencies, but they don't seem like logical investors for us," said Sam Altman, founder and CEO of location-based service Loopt. "We want someone who has a ton of experience building companies and understands what it takes to scale."

Others are less skeptical. "One thing that's challenging is having the relationships to bring your products and services to market. Having relationships with agencies, especially if you're an ad-supported business, could be very important, "said David Levy, cofounder and CEO of social-TV app Philo.

Observers expect we'll see more shops joining the trend. "Agencies are always trying to reinvent themselves and find new offerings for clients," said one agency search consultant. "It's been going on a long time. The difference is that before the agency community, they didn't have professional VCs as part of the offering. It was the new-business team, the agency CFO and CEO evaluating the offering. But now people who speak money as a first language are a part of the coalition, so that's different."

And, he predicts, "We'll see more -- especially if there's success."

WACO — Lakita Evans may not get high marks for couth, but she should get an A for brass for the name she's given her new restaurant.

Fat Ho Burgers has drawn a big crowd. Not that everybody thinks it's a classy tag. But what the heck? It's a greasy burger joint, and they weren't having high tea anyway.

Lakita says a Facebook group tried to get her to change the name to something more sophisticated. But don't expect that to happen, because the Fat Ho brand is bringing them in. Even the New York Daily News has written online about the place. The bare-bones spot has gotten so much TV and press publicity that last week on opening day, they ran out of burgers.

Of course, this could come crashing to a halt if, say, competition pops up and Plump Prostitute Paninis opens down the street. But for now, Lakita is riding the wave.

"When they change the economy, I'll change my name," said Lakita, 24, whose restaurant sits in a modest neighborhood. "When they get these kids around here jobs, I'll change my name. If the crime rate goes down, I'll change my name."

Lakita says she invested a little over $11,000 of her own money to open Fat Ho Burgers. She raised the money by working overnight for three years in the Walmart produce department.

So what about the name, Lakita? Why did you pick THAT?

" 'Cause it's funny. I found it hilarious," she said. On Wednesday, she was ordering the T-shirts. I have a hard time imagining a lot of women wearing a "Fat Ho" shirt, somehow. At least to the symphony. Although you know they'll show up at a chili cook-off or three.

Consider the menu: The burger fare includes your Supa Fly Ho (one patty, with cheese), your Supa Dupa Fly Ho (add another patty, which justifies the Dupa), the Skinny Ho (no add ons, such as pickle or tomato), and the Dried Up Ho (plain meat, with cheese), just to name a few.

"The biggest seller is the Supa Fly Ho and the Supa Dupa Fly Ho and the Tiny Ho meals," Lakita said. The latter is the kid's burger special. Imagine hearing this at the dinner table: "Junior, listen to your father and finish your Tiny Ho."

Gentrification has yet to come to this part of Waco. An old maroon couch sits out front of the building. There's another couch in the yard next door, so I guess that's the patio. The glass in the front door is busted. A chunk of cardboard ripped from a box and turned into a sign is tacked to an outside wall. It explains the restaurant's pay policy: cash only and "No Big Bills." But the place is off to a rousing start. On Wednesday, I didn't get a burger, because I didn't want to get stuck in line for half an hour.

That, and not the name, has been the problem, Lakita said. "They complain about the wait," she said. "If you see a long line, why are you gonna come and stand in it?" She says she'll be hiring extra help soon to speed things up.

But even the pastor across the street doesn't mind the Ho part.

"I think it's all right, because they say the way they got the name was a friendly thing," said Pastor Michael Walker of the Overcomers in Praise Temple of God. "They were just sitting there, talking. If it's not cursing or offending anybody, it shouldn't be a problem. I know the people. They're good people. They're not trying to hurt anybody."

Besides, if it folds, it could become a British place, and they could change the sign to Tally Ho Fish & Chips.

Saw a post a bit ago on Christian Fletcher's wall, and had some initial thoughts. Then just got an email from this small surf apparel brand here in OC announcing that they opened Urban Outfitters and it triggered some more thoughts. Lastly, it all tied back to what I saw this year at Winter X.... so here it goes:

Quick broad definition : I think anytime a person or company exploits themselves, another person, a situation, a scene, or a sport for the sole purpose of "enriching" themselves, you could consider them a sell out.

Long definition : It's not that cut and dry. Have guys like Tony Hawk or to a lesser degree Corey Duffel or Gareth Stehr sold skating out? One could probably argue that Tony has a little more than Corey or Gareth. How 'bout this.... has every single competitor is last year's Maloof Money Cup sold out (even just a little) to the Maloof brothers?

Hell.... while we're at it (don't want to call you to the carpet here but......) haven't you and your old man sold out to surfing just a little? I remember reading something you said a few years ago regarding apparel sponsors : "I don't give a f*%k what I wear... as long as the company is paying me to wear it" Couldn't that be considered "selling out"?

I'm not trying to be an ass... just trying to raise a point. If at some point along your journey, you'd prefer a rib eye over a bean burrito, a first class seat over coach, a 5 bedroom home over an apartment, you're driven to sell out (at least a little) right?

Let's take one of your hero's and mine: Duane Peters as an example. You know the guy personally.... I only know him from being a fan. His wife/girlfriend Corey Parks sells some really high-end hand made women's apparel and accessories. If Nordstrom called her tomorrow and said "Corey, we'll offer you a 5 year exclusive licensing agreement worth $5 Million dollars" You think she'd do it? I don't know her personally, but my gut tells me she'd at least consider it. And who could blame her? We all would!

We're looking to better our existence and the existence (in some cases) of those we love. Does Bob McKnight sell out every time Quik makes a "Costco" only t-shirt so that some dude in South Dakota (apologies to those who live there) who hasn't see a body of water other than at his local YMCA gets to rock the KS10 logo?

I dunno man... I think to a certain degree we all have our price. You, me, ESPN.... hell, snowboarding for that matter. The Navy was the X Games main sponsor this year? The Navy? Really? How many groms and shred heads were those commercials targeting ? Did ESPN sell out? Did snowboarding sell out?

As a good friend once told me when we were trying to revive MCD : Core is poor. By no means am I saying that poor is bad. To be honest, I think poor builds character.

Look at Von Dutch, one of the greatest sell out examples of all time! The daughters ruined everything Kenny Howard stood for. That cool cat lived in a bus for christ sakes not giving an "f" about what society thought or said. But it takes a rare person to want to live like Mr. Howard.

I'm not Mr. Howard and I don't think you are either, we all want a better life.... and it's difficult to stay "core" and not sell out at least a little to help grow your brand, your sales or your image.

Here's to selling out..... and living a good life, if not a super awesome one!

Dang... been a minute since my last post! Anyway, ReTargeting : If your not familar it's a relatively new application/technology from folks like ReTargeter, that get users back to the original site they were checking out. That's a really crappy explanation.... so let me explain how it happend to me and why I'm not creeped out, and instead delighted.

So I'm booking a flight to San Jose (Bay Area) next week on Kayak, just checking out prices, availability, ya know the normal stuff. I didn't book it yet 'cause I'm still finalizing meetings. After checking it out and getting a ballpark I went on my merry way to surf the interwebs. Well this morning when I go to login my calories for breakfast (yes, I am a freak) I see this :

Wow.... not only is Kayak on there but so it the destination San Jose (albeit, the wrong one) but a San Jose nonetheless. Is Kayak following me around the web? Are they watching my every step? Perhaps.... am I creeped out? Not really? Like I've mentioned before, as long as they're not spamming me, or putting irrelvant ads in front of my face, I'm good with this type of marketing. Some buddy's gotta make a buck right?

Besides... when you're not doing anything creepy on the web, there's no real reason to be concerned right? I mean as long as the cookies they're dropping on my system don't have access to financial stuff or whatever, I think I'm good. I'll probably have something totally weird happen like a Kayak representative show up at my door asking me to complete my booking, but until that happens... I'm OK with ReTargeting.

Google is taking on an unlikely role: wedding planner.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Google has rolled out a dedicated site where consumers can create a wedding website, edit photos and plan their wedding using wedding-specific templates in Google Sites, Google Docs and Picnik. The company announced the move today on its official Google blog.

Google teamed up with wedding planner Michelle Rago for the templates, and Rago also provides tips to the soon-to-be-betrothed. To spread the word, Google is also hosting a wedding sweepstakes offering a prize of $25,000 and the chance to get Rago to help plan your wedding.

The site is the latest attempt by Google to insinuate itself into consumers’ lifestyles. In 2008, Google launchedGoogle Health, which is designed to let users organize, monitor, track and use health information on the site. But there’s a thin line between providing helpful information and invading privacy: In 2009, Google Healthpartnered with CVS to provide patients online access to their prescription drug history via their Google Health accounts, raising issues about Google’s access to sensitive personal information.

So... if you've read my posts lately... you'll find they're mixed with a lot of customer service experiences, entreprenuerial topics and friggin' how excited I am to finally be getting OFF AT&T and back on Verizon.

Quick Sidebar : Truly at the end of the day, I guess it really doesn't matter what large company you deal with at one point they ALL suck. It's not to say that little companies don't suck (cause they can and do) but for the most part... at one point, they all suck. I don't know if it's a combination of factors or a single factor but my gut tells me it's a combo. FYI... I know I'm totally off topic from BlueLounge, but I promise I'll get back to them. I think the factors relating to why vitually all big companies suck is because :

1) The sheer number of times you have to deal with them

2) The sheer number of employees they have working for them

Here's why I think mostly it comes down to these two things:

1) The more you have to deal with a large company, the more times you're open to having a bad experience. Case in point for Time Warner: The sheer number of times I have to call that godforsaken company b/c the internet drops (probably at least 2 times per night, especially if we have 2 computers streaming Netflix) simply means I am bound to have a bad experience. More interactions = More potential points of failure. One nagging point of failure that keeps agrivating the piss out of me each time I call TimeWarner to trouble my internet connection, is that when we moved, my wife established the service w/ TimeWarner. We're a cell phone only family (no need for land lines anymore right? :)) so when you call and establish service w/ your cell phone.... from that point forward it auto recognizes the account your calling about. A time saving mechanism, that normally should work very well, but unlike Verizon's prompt system, TimeWarner doesn't ask : "Are you calling about the service associated to the phone number 123-456-7899? Instead it just assumes you are. So.... in our case where I established service with my cell phone at our old residence (and the account has since been closed) it says "Sorry... the account you're calling about has been closed" Then in order for the dude in tech support to help you.... you gotta have him look up the account with my wife's cell # so they can begin the troubleshooting process. Why not simply add my cell phone number to the account so that the automated system recognizes that I'm calling about the new service we have.... and not the old service? OMG! Seems simple to me. BTW.... I loved, loved, loved the other night when I called at like 12:10am (cause of course the internet went down when I was trying to order my iPhone from Verizon!) and got a hold of a dude in India name Tom Jones..... I thought that was super funny and it made me smile. Imagine this being said in my best Indian accent "Helllllooooo, Mr. Haden, this is Tom Jones and I will be assisting you tonight with excellent service" I told him.... "Tom.... you already have my friend!

2) The sheer number of employees big companies are required to hire to take my calls @ 12:10am means you're bound to get a hold of crabby Kenny.... or bitchy Betsy.... and who can blame these people for their poor disposition? I'd probably be pissed too if I worked for AT&T wireless and all I heard all day long is "Your service sucks" Anyway, you're bound to get a hold of these people. But.... like everything, there are rare exceptions to the rule. Quick BestBuy experience that happend last weekend: So I bought online a new MacBook Air from BestBuy (BTW... if you'r a Mac fan and you own a MBP, and you don't need a suped up machine for graphic stuff or whatever.... you'll love the MacBook Air... I have the 11.6" model... and it is so light and kickass! I can't put the thing down! And I even recently got an iPad from my good buddies Stanton and Mike, and yet still, I'll reach for the Air 95% of the time)

Anyway... I digress yet again. Back to BestBuy. So I order online and have the order set for local pick up that day. Figured the wife can swing by the store on the way back from breakfast and I'll be entertained all day Sunday... setting up my new system. Anyway, so I order it... and call the store when they open to ensure they got the order and that it's ready for pick up. I speak to this kid Tyler.... who orginally sounded like he wanted to help, but later turns out was probably up partying hard last night and was like "OMG get this guy outta my hair, I've got a splitting headache" Tyler says, "Sorry, can't help you with this... you gotta call the 800 number" I'm like "Tyler.... when I ordered the mac, it said it was available and in stock @ your location, why do I have to call this 800 # to find out where it's at? He replies, "It's the way our system works... they have to release the order before we can pick it and put it aside for local pickup." I think well... this partied out kid coulda put me on hold and called the 800 number himself... but clearly he was too busy looking for Advil to help. So I call the 800 # and speak to Marie.... who sounds like she's somewhere in Missippi by her Southern drawl. So Marie.... sweetheart that she is.... first suggests that I need to call the store back and tell them that they need to "acknowledge" the order so it can be released. I respectfully say, "No. Marie.... it's not me who needs to call the store to tell them to acknowledge the order, it's you who needs to do that. Let's not forget Marie.... in this scenario, I'm the customer" She says.... super politely, "Hold the line sir, while I call the store" When she comes back on the line, she says, "Sir.... I was able to get a hold of Tyler, the same Tyler you spoke to, and told him he had to "acknowledge" the order so we can release it. He's doing that now... and your computer should be able to be picked up in 20 minutes" I said.... "Marie, you are my hero !! You've solved my problem, and now my wife doesn't need to yell at me because she's standing at BestBuy waiting for Tyler... who had too many Gin and Tonic's last night to figure out this order" Consquently I got Brian Dunn's (CEO of BestBuy) email and wrote him to say what an awesome job Marie had done. Side Note : Brian... next time... endear yourself to your customers and take the 2 seconds it would have taken to reply to my email yourself, rather than forward it on to one of your customer service managers who eventually reached out to me to say "Thanks for your business"

OK.... so FINALLY on to BlueLounge and why supporting the little guy is a noble 'cause. In the midst of big enterprise, corruption, greed, squeezing every red cent of profit from their consumers, big companies tend to suck. Even Apple who I hold near and dear to my heart sucks at times! But by and large, little guys can't afford to lose customers, so for the most part (at least in my experience) they go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure every customer is satisfied. That's exactly what the fine folks @ BlueLounge did... Heck... they didn't really even have to go above and beyond. You know why? Their products we're available, their ordering system worked. I ordered the products (they make these super bitchin' cord holders.... so if you're a freak like me you don't have to look at eight thousand wires underneath your desk, they all fit in this nice little box) on a Sunday... and got them like on Wednesday. Nice! Then I tweeted out to the guys @ BlueLounge to let them know what an awesome job they did... and they acknowledged that.

Which... I gotta say... brings up another point (I'm just flowing w/ thoughts today... must be b/c it's the weekend and my mind is in weekend mode :) ) Anyway... back to my other point.... a couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about this cool ass little company that got it's start on KickStarter. They make a watch holder called the Lunatik for the new iPod Nano, which doubles as a watch. Another side note : the only bummer I think about this apple product is that if you're like me... you never take off your watch. It's water proof.... and you just wear it all the time and don't think about it. That Nano, which doubles as a watch always needs to be charged... and god forbid if you forget you have it on and jump in the shower real quick... you're screwed!

Anyway... back to this guy Scott, boutique maker of the Lunatik and Griffin, a large manufacturer of Apple accesories that makes a similar product to the Lunatik that they just released @ CES. So I write the post... use the twitter handles in the header text so that each perhaps sees the post. And.... you know what? The dude from Griffin actually replies and the Lunatik guy (maybe he was busy) didn't. Anyway..... the guy really endeared himself to me.... especially since my post was about how Griffin kinda copied Lunatik's idea (perhaps... not really sure it went down like that) and would eventually drive Lunatik perhaps out of business or at the very least make it tough to compete, cause Griffin's product was cheaper and way more widely available. So the Griffin guy, by responding, actually got me to become more of a fan of their stuff, just by commenting on my post. Thought that was cool! Although Griffin.... gotta say, I don't know if you have a product like this... but I just bought the Iomgega iPhone 4 charger 'cause it's a charger and backup device all in one.... that's a pretty cool little product!

Is there such a thing as Founder or Co-founder of a blog? If so, when do you go from blog to product?

So... I've been thinking a lot lately about this topic as I continue to be fascinated with start-ups, entreprenuership and all that goes along with this burgeoning eco system.

Founder or Co-Founder are interesting titles that seem to permeate today's start-up world. For most companies with an actual product (and by product I mean an application that actually does something) the titles Founder and Co-Founder make sense to me.

Heck... I suppose to a certain degree, if your blog includes a searchable database, sorta like TechCrunch or Mashable.... these can be considered products. But I guess the question is... when does your blog "Jump the Shark" as it were, and become a product?

I raise the point because more and more, I'm seeing these crappy little blogs that are essentially regurgitating articles and topics other's have written or covered, yet, the owners of these blogs refer to themselves as "Founder or Co-Founder"

I have a blog... in fact, if you're reading this right now, you're reading it on my blog. Should I embrace the title "Founder" of JohnHaden.com?

I think not. I'm simply a dude sharing my opinion on these interwebs.

Why does it matter if others choose to name themselves Founder or Co-Founder? What effect does it have on me?

None really I suppose. I just find it odd that a lot of people want to jump on the start-up bandwagon so much that they're coming up with titles for themselves that seem a bit "embellished".

Dramatic? Perhaps.... Overstated? ....Perhaps Wrong? Definitely not!

Obama's State of the Union Address where he compares Edison and The Wright Brothers to Google and Facebook may not be far fetched!

All six figures are by far some of the most revolutionary folks of their time without a doubt. I suppose the former however had the advantage

of time on their hands..... meaning : the world was a whole lot less developed when they were around so their contributions perhaps seem more meaningful.

Plus add in that fact that the final comparison, The Wright Brothers to Facebook, is mired in, what seems to be, a never ending legal battle between the "idea" guys

(Winklevoss Twins) and the "executor" (Zuckerberg) perhaps the comparison is a bit overzealous. Interesting in hindsight that the generation before them (Gates and Jobs)

went unmentioned. My, oh my ......how time fly's! (Still looking forward to my iPhone on Verizon, Steve.... so don't get all bent outta shape!)

Well... whether dramatic or not, I think the latter's contributions are just as significant. Hell... if you Jump the Shark and make the Edison to Facebook comparison

you could even go as far to say : "Well Thomas Edison gave light to the world"...... well ....... "Zuck allowed 1 in 4 people in the world to connect with the outside world"

I have "friends" (albeit loosely defined) in Sweden, Brazil, UK and New Zealand that I've never met.

But I suppose one could argue that light and flight not only created companies and commerce, they created industry.... which is true.

But then..... didn't Google and Facebook? Google was search... they we're video... but they bought YouTube which is an industry in and of itself. Hell, I just

saw a blog post the other day (forget where) that there were 10 average everyday Joe's that we're gonna make over $100K a year on YouTube! That's industry!

And Facebook? Have they created industry?... One needs to look no further than Zynga... and those god awful Mafia War requests right?

I came into this post thinking..... it was his statement was spot on, than I fell for the dramatization factor.... but now I think I've gone back to the fact that

Great show overall, but the tech weenies @ the show need to applaud more... too many awkward silences
Paul Carr and Sarah Lacy did a great job, their wisecrack bashing was funny.... but whoever was in charge of a) cue cards for nominees and categories and b) trying to arrange the photos of the winners and presenters ought to be canned !
Andrew Mason proves that nerdy cerebral people can be unbelievably hilarious
Aaron Patzer's presentation of nominees for Best Social App while funny.... was so uncomfortable you wondered if there wasn't a bit of truth behind the jokes.... but Andrew Mason saved the day when he replied, "We stole it from China you asshole" to Patzer's comment that GroupOn stole the idea for it's application from the Japanese.

Man... the story from Mashable on MySpace earlier this week really got me thinking. Then, when I Googled "What is Tom Anderson doing now?" It came back with this Quora result where the former VP of IT OPs for MySpace came back and said "He's watching a lot of baseball and enjoying life, I hope!"

Two random un-related thoughts:

1) Is this necessarily bad? I'm blanking on the term that describes this philosophy, but isn't this (NewsCorp's sale of MySpace) a little like chopping off a cancer infested leg to save the body? Sorry... to be gross but you get the idea. Isn't there a word for that? Anyway, I'm sure that the folks who were in the latest round of MySpace layoffs have a different opinion, but at some point you gotta shed the dead weight right? If you try and try and try again, but you just can't zap the cancer once and for all, isn't is better to lop that appendage off if it significantly increases your chance of survival? Damn... what the term/word for this scenario?

2) Is it me.....or are company life spans getting shorter? The start-up world is littered with products and companies that have been bought, integrated, and then summarily killed. Or is there a new class of todays Zuckerbergs' that want to be tomorrow's Jobs'? Does Zuck wanna look back on his life and say, "I was a game changer?" In my eyes.... the guy already is!! He was Time Mag's person of the year for christ sakes. How many people can claim that? Will his profile be raised in my eyes or that of the public's if he goes on to win the Nobel Peace Prize? Perhaps, but for what? Look at Steve Jobs, the guy is on his second leave of absence due to his ailing health. The guy is no doubt an icon of our time, but at what cost? Are people going to like him more when he's dead?

I think I'm definitely in the flip camp. Keep your Time Magazine Man of the Year, keep your Nobel Peace Prize. Let me be a part of something special that creates value, then let's flip it and get outta the game..... or better yet, let's go watch one!

So I thought the big threat to AT&T and their horrific support of decent iPhone coverage was coming from the newly announced Verizon CDMA iPhone (Order yours on Feb 3rd!).

But alas..... google voice announced today that they are rolling out the ability to port your cell phone number to your Google Voice number so that it's you main number! All for only $20 stones !!!

I'm gonna break my contract with AT&T anyway in Feb when I order the verizon iPhone.... but hey... if I can be making calls and getting my VM for free thru Google and cut down on my per minute plan w/ Verizon.... I'm In !! Tell me where to Sign!!

Now.... just hoping my plea's w/ Google work, and they actually light my Google Voice account up!

Gonna get a little abstract here... but hopefully you'll follow along.

So I was listening to a song from Binary Star (if you enjoy hip hop check them out) and this chorus for whatever reason made me think of this random post.

Here's the chorus:

Here's why: In case you have your head under a rock apple has made yet another kick ass, well designed product in the iPod Nano, which can easily serve as a watch. So some very creative folks over at Minimal Studios created the LunaTik and TickTock thru funding from KickStarter... another group of talented and creative folks. KickStarter, if you head isn't buried, but your're not a techno weenie like me, is a website that funds "creative" projects in a very unique, all or nothing, way. You should check it out too!

Anyway... here's where I get a little abstract. This chorus is about underground hip hop and their struggle to make it without the "big labels" or majors is what I think they call them.

Hold on now.... here's where we get a little weird...

So Scott @ Minimal is a super creative dude that saw a mouse trap and decided to make it better. He's a little guy, but was smart and got his project off the ground thru KickStarter (in fact to date, his project is the most successful in terms of dollars raised)

So on to Griffin: Griffin's been in the iPod accesory game since, well, there were iPods. So I'm not taking any cred from them. But when I saw them release the "Slap", a Nano watch holder, @ CES (for $24.99 no less) I thought...."Well there you go..... Goliath has come to play"

I looked up when Griffin announced their product (11/16/10) and looked at the funding for Lunatik (12/16/10) so who's to say who came first.

But I really hope that Griffin doesn't come in and just oblierate Scott or the dudes @ MNML 'cause this type of "underground" innovation and creativity is what fuels dreams and passions. Griffin could afford to stop making the slap tommorow and never skip a beat, however, this could be Scott's victory lap @ the Indy 500.
