Talk about Pay for Performance!

It never ceases to amaze me how company CEO’s (who I’ll refer to as Quarterbacks or Pitchers) get to hold onto their jobs, make an unbelievable amount of money while there companies performance is in the toilet.  Now,  I understand that a lot of these CEO’s are good guys, well respected and probably terrific leaders whose company’s simply got crushed in the downturn.  OK fair enough….  But how can a CEO who’s company is performing so poorly still take gobs and gobs of money.  Don’t they have a conscience ? Wouldn’t you say,  “Hey,  we’re hurting,  our shareholders are hurting,  our employees are hurting so I’m gonna share the pain and not take that $10M dollar bonus,  instead,  I’m going to put that back into the company.”   I mean really…. That’s the right thing to do, don’t you think ?   If these guys were on the field at the Quarterback or Pitcher positions they woulda been canned a long time ago.   It’s crazy to me how sports values performance more than business!  Here’s the article : http://bit.ly/4ApEhm
